Acupuncture is the primary source of health care for millions of people. In China each province has its own teaching hospital associated with a University specialising in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. What this means is that is for every disease or symptom there is a treatment. However it is realised in the West that Acupuncture in some cases should not be the first choice. In such cases an acupuncturist will refer you either back to your Doctor or appropriate health care professional.

With the advent of more detailed research the World Health Orgainsation has a number of conditions where acupuncture is considered an appropriate treatment. On top of this there has been specific areas of expertise where success has been proven such areas include depression and fertility issues. Specific types of acupuncture have been used for specific problems such as addictions and to quit smoking.

As acupuncture looks at illness from the perspective of the whole person where a presenting illness can be viewed as a symptom of an under lying condition. Acupuncture has been found to be successful in a number of areas which western medicine has found little joy. Such areas include headaches and migraines, some digestive disorders for example.
